Join us for a 7 days/ 6 nights Spring Equinox Ashtanga Yoga Retreat

Experience the joy of Ashtanga Yoga, Meditation and Self-discovery surrounded by the magical beauty of Nature in Finnish Lapland.  Take time out from a long winter and unwind with us on this Ashtanga Yoga retreat and reconnect to your body, mind, and spirit by recharging your system with Asana, Pranayama and Meditation every morning, Yin and Restorative Yoga in the afternoons, plus additional Technique classes ending with Yoga Nidra before dinner.

This retreat is open for all levels of practitioners guided by SYC Authorized Teacher, Bela Lipat.  You need to know at least the Sun Salutations and the standing postures of Primary Series before coming to the retreat and be able to practice Mysore Style Ashtanga.

Where you will stay:
Your home away from home for the retreat is in a 2 floor log villa made of hand carved 400-year old Lappish wood.  Located opposite the Luosto fell with the best possible views.   The accommodations are warm and cozy with a shared bathroom.  There is a sauna, free WiFi, and a washing machine. The tranquil and idyllic setting is located 113kms from Rovaniemi airport, in the wilderness of Lapland.  

Come and experience a yoga retreat like no other!  The perfect blend of yoga practices, relaxation, and adventure north of the Arctic Circle.  An intimate encounter with the wilderness and grandeur of Lapland!

Area:

The retreat center is in Luosto, which is a fell in the Sodankylä municipality.  The fell is about 510 meters (1,670 ft) high and is part of the Pyhä-Luosto National Park, one of the oldest in Finland.  There is a weather radar on the fell top and the Luosto ski slopes and the unique Lampivaara Amethyst mine nearby.

Included in your retreat package:
- Twin-share room in a Log Villa for 7days/6nights
- shared toilet and shower facilities
- 2 Vegetarian Meals/day (brunch & dinner), coffee, tea, and fruit juices.
- Daily sauna
- All yoga/meditation/philosophy/and afternoon workshops
- *Group transfer from Rovaniemi City to retreat center.



Please note:
The group transfer is at 2pm on the start of retreat, and after breakfast on last day of retreat at 12noon.
* Please book your flight/bus/train to arrive in Rovaniemi before the 2pm airport/city transfer.  No later then 2pm.  It is approximately 1.5hours drive from Rovaniemi airport.  Upon arrival, we will have a Welcome Circle, tour of the grounds, and dinner and sauna.  On the day of departure, please book your flight/bus/train to depart after 2pm for the Group Transfer back. 

Alternatively, you may drive there from Rovaniemi on your own account.

Optional activities:
- Traditional smoke sauna and

 avanto, ice swimming  (choice of two offsite locations, rates range between 75 - 120euros/person with towel and sauna drink included)

 

Sample Daily Schedule:
7-10am  -  Meditation, Breathwork, and Asana practice
10:30-12noon  -  Brunch & 
REST / Afternoon Activities
4-5:00pm  -  Yin/Technique class
5-6:00pm  -  Yoga Nidra
6:30pm  -  Dinner
**To accommodate the activities included in the retreat package, two of the afternoons will be offsite for the Reindeer ride and Husky Ride.  There will be no afternoon classes on these days depending on transfer time.

Due to the current Covid pandemic, our cancellation policy for this retreat is as follows:
    •    100% refund if you cancel before January 15, 2021.
    •    50% refund of full payment (minus 500euros deposit), if you cancel before January 30, 2021.
    •    No refund if you cancel after February 10.
 
Please note:  Consumption of alcohol and recreational drugs are not allowed during our stay.
Cigarette smoking is allowed only in the parking lot away from view of other students.
Rooms are given in order of booking with deposit or full payment.


If you have a preferred roommate, let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request, unless you are booking the couples room and booking together.
